Circle Talk and Skills Building lessons provide a digital e-artbook to enjoy. For example, Harold and the Purple Crayon is paired with The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. This book teaches children that even “a little speck can turn into something, with a little bit of imagination, creativity and perseverance”.
Storytime, Music & Movement and Dramatic Play lessons include interactive, educational audio tracks, Storytime Summary Flashcards, and digital canvas and pens to recreate the drawings from the book. These ground children’s interest and active participation for our activities. Our systematic extension from story to dramatic play is done with 3 storytime flashcards directly from the storybook pages each week that are discussed and imaginatively acted out.
Story Wrap-Up and Sequencing, Assessment and Goodbye lessons will explore the storytime flashcards which guide story review and sequencing. A summary poster is used at the end of the storybook for children to recall and narrate in their own words the whole story sequence, thus demonstrating self-confidence and improved English speech.
